FEMALES ONLY…

What is vaginal relaxation?

This is a condition that only women who have been through natural vaginal birth will experience. Obstetricians advise that vaginal tear heals well and pelvic floor muscles can be strengthened. However, most women can relate to the experience of a loose vagina.

When the vaginal tissues have been stretched to its elastic limits, the vagina is no longer its original size and it is now larger than the normal penis. This can also occur post vaginal surgery ie : vaginal hysterectomy and other pelvic floor surgery/trauma.

This is a condition called vaginal relaxation syndrome.

Do I have Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome?

  • Do you feel like your vagina is loose when having intercourse?
  • Do you feel like there is little or no friction with intercourse?
  • Do you have less sensation with intercourse since vaginal childbirth? Are you concerned that your partner finds your vagina large or loose?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you probably suffer from Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome. Symptoms of vaginal looseness adversely affect the sexual experience.

What is vaginal atrophy?

Also known as vaginal ageing, it refers to the changes to the vagina and urinary system largely due to decreasing levels of the hormone estrogen.

Vaginal ATROPHY is a condition affecting approximately 40% of post-menopausal and ageing women.
Contrary to menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats which generally gets better as time goes on, the symptoms of vaginal atrophy worsen over time.

As oestrogen levels decrease, the general health of the vaginal tissue also decreases, affecting the oestrogen receptors on the vaginal epithelium reducing its thickness, elasticity and natural acidity.

This leads to symptoms of

  • Itching
  • Burning sensation
  • Lack of vaginal secretions/lubrication
  • Discomfort
  • Blood spotting on occasion
  • Lack of sex drive
  • An alkaline vaginal environment with an unbalanced pH
  • More susceptibility to urinary tract infections
  • Less elastic/slacker pelvic muscles leading to possible uncontrolled bladder motions

More often than not these symptoms will not resolve with time and can cause emotional stress in a woman’s personal life and intimate relationships.

What are the treatment options?

Until now, effective results for VRS / vaginal atrophy could only be achieved through hormone therapy or invasive surgical treatments such as anterior and posterior vaginal plastic surgery. There are many post-operative complications associated with these procedures.

What is it and how does it work?

Lotus Gyno Laser -The technology of a fractional CO2 laser is the newest treatment for vaginal tightening.

It can safely deliver heat deep into the tissue than other laser wavelengths.

This unique laser pulse technology that starts with a small ablation of surface tissue and then gradually tails off, deliver the right amount of heat to stimulate natural regeneration of tissue.

Its ability to treat the tissue in a single pass, makes the treatment shorter and more patient-friendly and most importantly, eliminate the chances of over treatment and increases the safety for the patient.

In the weeks following treatment the vaginal tissue regains collagen, blood supply and hydration; and the strength, elasticity and health of the vaginal wall improves.
